18-05-1989 Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Academic and sports background? Life guard High school student Favourite spot? Pozo Favourite windsurfers? Víctor Fernández and Darío Ojeda A book? Lord of the Rings Other sports? Body boarding, skating, mountain biking, football What is your goal in life? To go to university, study physical education and enjoy myself along the way. _ My first contact with this sport was one morning in the summer, my friends around Nico’s van (Nico is the founder of Hullon together with Carlos). Everybody was listening to the instructions that they were giving them about windsurfing. I came closer to listen and they invited me to have a go. I was “hooked” right from the beginning and from that moment on, I used to go down to the beach every day until I ended up as a monitor in the school. _

16-10-1976 Academic and sports background? Practical business economics Sailing qualification (Sailing Federation of the Czech Republic) Favourite spot? Pozo Izuquierdo and Kanaha Uppers. Favourite windsurfers? Josh Stone A book? Egyptian Other sports? Running, volleyball, snowboarding. What is your goal in life? To be happy and enjoy myself. _ My first experience with windsurfing was at the age of 7, in a lake where I lived in the Czech Republic. I have been watching the wind every weekend ever since that day. As the years went by, I started travelling around with my friends in search of wind and that’s how we came to Gran Canaria. I “fell in love” with the wind we have here in the islands and I realised that this is where I want to live and I can’t live without windsurfing. It doesn’t matter whether the wind is strong or gentle, whether it’s sunny or cloudy, I always go down to the water to enjoy myself, and always with a smile on my face. _

The sea breeze Other sports? Squash, surfing, skating mountain biking, Playstation. What is your goal in life? Not to have any enemies and live life to the limit. _ I started sailing in an Optimist when I was 10. That was my first contact with the world of sailing. I have my mother to thank for signing me up for the club and 6 years later I moved on to Lasers. When I came to Gran Canaria, I saw that loads of people did windsurfing, so I started to try it out with some friends but I never realized just how addictive it is. Now I can’t imagine life without being able to go down to the sea and get away; that moment of adrenaline and enjoyment that gives you a sense of freedom that few other sports can. _

Jason Polakow A book? Cathedral of the sea Other sports? Surfing, climbing, mountain biking and a few more. What is your goal in life? To be happy. _ I started sailing “against my will”. Let me explain: I was 15 and I was spending the summer in Pozo. My friends and I only surfed with body boards. When it was windy, it was impossible and we “hated” the windsurfers because they could go in when it was windy. My older brother started windsurfing and when he went home for lunch, he used to leave all his gear on the beach, which is when I would grab it to start learning and I’m still having fun and enjoying it just as much now as I did then. _
